Running Blog Entry #5

8th November 2021

Distance covered: 7.19km

Time: 55:12 minutes

Today I ran to Sai Kung town and back. Normally I run around my neighbourhood, but since I want to increase the distance I run, I decided that it would be best if I ran to Sai Kung so the trails that I run don't get too repetitive. I was very motivated for this run because I was excited to see what running on a road was like compared to running on a trail, like I was used too.

I was originally planning on running 6km for this route but by the time I had completed 6km, I decided that I could run further, so I decided to keep running until I hit 7km. While I was running today, I got quite tired but I was really motivated to continue running until I was home because I didn’t want to stop running while I was in public, so I pushed myself until I got home. On this run there were a few uphill parts which I found quite challenging to run up but I completed it even if I had to run quite slowly. When I was running in Sai Kung, I was getting very tired and did get to the place I wanted to run too. I didn't run as far because I didn't want to walk or stop. I also had to give myself targets of where to run so I wouldn't take breaks during my run. The only break I took was after running up a steep hill, I rested for under a minute then I started to run again. After this run, I was super motivated and was able to complete all of the work I had to do and more. Although I was tired right after running, once I had cooled down I had much more energy than I did before my run.

Right now, I am quite happy with running 7km but I mostly want to focus on running at a faster pace. I ran 7.19km in 55 mins, next time I run 7km I want to try run it between 45-50 mins.
